During the first four years of the band's existence, UFO predominantly played compositions that could be freely moulded during a performance. Accordingly, concerts were generally accompanied by musicians with whom the band regularly rehearsed – either individually or collectively – a group of musicians that tended to comprise five people. The band's first album was also recorded in this spirit: Three days were spent in the studio laying down various sessions with musicians who were already familiar with the band's "material". EINS was released digitally and on vinyl on Everest Records.
