Last Night - UFO played at Meisenfrei Blues Club in Germany - One of my favourite UFO songs,
Heavenly Body (Monkey Puzzle & The Best of a Decade) featured in the set list

Translated from German

Hard Rock: The British band "UFO" will also perform at Rex-theater Lorsch Music
Lorsch.

The band "UFO" is the flagship of the indestructible British heavy rock. The voiced Phil Mogg on vocals are at the concert at the Rex in Lorsch Music Theatre on Wednesday night just before a high score. Vinnie Moore pretends to be unleashed guitar dervish, his instrument in the best of Hendrix-style playing on the back and let his tongue wander over the strings. Sometimes he picks up the acoustic guitar and starts with a gentle solo plinkernden the song "Love to Love." Thunderous applause breaks out, which does not let up throughout the nearly two-hour concert.

The band can not rely on the old hits. Also, the song material of the 2009 released album "The Visitor" does behind the past success of the band, founded in 1969 not to hide. "Stop Breaking Down" and "Hell Driver" fit seamlessly into the series of "UFO" as a classic "Stay away forever" from the seventies.

Obsessed with the bass player worked his instrument, which he sometimes handles like a bayonet. Slightly hunched over, he drives the group sound with dynamic runs forward. Also, Paul Raymond, who is moving from the keyboard to fly electric guitar is, its more subtle contributions to the sound of compact sound.

By balancing drummer Andy Parker worked the skins. The wiry singer Phil Mogg refines the straightforward compositions with vigorous voice. In addition, it delivers witty comments to cheer on the almost fully occupied Rex Music Theater. Completely thrilled stretch the visitors up most experienced in old age, the arms when the quintet's songs "Too hard to handle," "Doctor, doctor," and "Shoot Shoot" like firing broadsides.

TRANSLATED from GERMAN to ENGLISH

Music Theatre Rex: The British hard rock legends UFO landed in Lorsch and "beamed" the audience directly into the '70s
Time travel, the hard English way

From our colleague Thomas Tritsch

Lorsch. It is a gentle, but clearly perceptible acoustic pressure wave that travels the spectators in the back room area in rhythmic regularity of the skin. Shortly after the UFO had landed in Lorsch, the crew activated a sort of cosmic time line, the audience directly at the Rex "officials" in the late 70s.

"UFO" echoed through the musical theater - the expectations of the guests was clear.

They wanted pure Hard Rock with a pumping bass, a powerful percussion and melodic guitar solos - all of which together gives a rich, powerful sound with basic flare up blues-rock sounds.

Full of Sound Energy
Clear arrangements, catchy melodies and musical energy set the tone of the band that was founded in 1969, but had arrived only about ten years later at the zenith of her career.

The massive personnel change led to an inner restlessness that led over the years, not always in a positive musical output. Purists complain today the departure of Michael Schenker, who left the group at its peak, after he had been with songs like "Doctor, Doctor" and "Rock Bottom" the initial Space rockers a new profile.

Even those who quite like to live in the now, must admit the UFO, that has kept the troops a certain vitality and constant musical, which should be in this case, not criticized as a creative standstill. On the contrary: Many a recent experiment from the band stage was certainly in the pants, and the Rex was a founding member and singer Phil Mogg (62) at least two or three weak points here. But the band also in its fifth decade, chronic edentulous not sound, proven track like the pulsating "Hell Driver", which also live in Lorsch sounded pretty bold and hearty.

Small frame, large volume
The compact part of the musical theater was the dense sound of the group very accommodating, and the time of the great arenas is passé for the more sedate men anyway. Besides Mogg with drummer Andy Parker and Paul Raymond (with the old 70's hairstyle) on guitar and keyboards, two other founding members or accomplices of the early days of this UFO.

Is completed, the team from the blue-wing American guitarist Vinnie Moore, who sang at the end of "Too Hot To Handle", the famous melody from Spielberg's "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and so with a wink pasted another UFO melody. Barry Sparks on bass seemed that stepped in during the European tour for the suffering from liver problems Pete Way.

The changing history of the British flying object, it has not despite several ups and downs thrown out of its orbit. To firecrackers such as "Let It Roll" or the long drawn-out "Lights Out" Phil Mogg was violently whirling the microphone stand as he chatted between songs like to with the audience or on stage, his beer. The old numbers were flanked by pieces of the last album "The Visitor", which overall led to an interesting mix. After 90 minutes, the journey was over. There were no encores, consistently pleasing as much in this band that was active in Lorsch generally quite fresh and playful. As said Phil Mogg in between to a fan at the edge of the stage? UFO a lot will be heard. At the speed of light should really age very slowly.

TRY ME was played LIVE tonight at JAZZHAUS to THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE!!

It is the first time LIVE since 1977 and the second time ever

I have been amazed by the reaction from UFO fans regarding last nights inclusion of the song, 'TRY ME' in the set list.
Having recieved numerous e-mails, I decided to dig a little deeper in the 'Misty Green and Blue' archives,
which will hopefully answer some questions about the 'Lights Out' album track

As reported, 'Try Me' was played LIVE last night - The second time ever at any concert in UFO's history.
The first time was in June 1977 - During UFO's 'Lights Out' tour. 'Try Me' was played LIVE,
only once during this year and on the last date of the UK tour at London's Roundhouse.

Captured on 'The Official Bootleg Box Set' album. The information on the album sleeve is
INCORRECT - the Roundhouse recordings were NOT from the 2nd April 1977.
UFO's 'Lights Out' tour didn't start until the end of April 1977. UFO toured the UK in June that year and the actual
Roundhouse concert date was 12th June 1977. UFO started their tour in Sweden at the end of April
and then moved onto Europe - Germany, Switzerland, Holland in May of that year. 'Try Me' was not played during this tour
but was rehearsed during the latter part of the UK dates during their pre-concert soundchecks. Documented on the bootleg
album "UFO By Request" (primarily a 1974 Zurich concert recording) but with the inclusion of 'Try Me'/'Just Another Suicide'
as the last track. The recording was taken from the Blackpool (UK) soundcheck on
9th June 1977 - The song was not included in the set that evening,
neither did it appear in the Manchester set (11th June 77). 'Try Me' was showcased the following evening on UFO's last date.
This was the one and only performance of the song

UFO went on to tour the USA in September 1977 but as Schenker bailed and Paul Chapman stood in on guitar duties,
'Try Me' wasn't to feature again. The closest fans got to witnessing 'Try Me' was on the 2005 double-LIVE DVD realease, 'Showtime',
featuring the band playing the track live in the studio. No wonder seeing the return of the
song as part of the set list last night has created such a reaction.

UFO Club, Tampere, Finland 25.10.2010

British UFO 's short tour of Finland did not start in the best possible marks, as the wave of the flu had struck the band members and singers, Phill Moggin throat infections as a result sunnuntainen Helsinki concert had to be canceled. I personally took the flag Monday's show in Tampere, the realization of the concert still got nervous on the day.

UFO was like she found it Monday night on stage. Earlier, the concert was moved Pakkahuoneenkatu club side

But the band was kovas sa tune. 1h 45min set it was great to hear, that is the ideal blend of old and new .. Particularly splendid sounds great, "Love To Love", which was sufficient alone to meet a successful evening "standards".
The Visitor latest disc material I could hear was more than it is now, but especially when you can not fit into one evening. The end of the gig had been saved from the actual classic tube when the motion for his turn in a row, received a 'Too Hot To Handle, "" Lights Out ", a long drawn-out jamitteluksi" Rock Bottom ", as well as natural grand finale" Doctor Doctor ".

An excellent evening of classical hard rock, 25 euro ticket was more than enough good value.

REVIEW

UFO - fortfarande på topp

UFO - still on top

For the uninitiated, perhaps UFO just that old British band with the song "Doctor Doctor". In The Merry Cans opening night showing the four-decade-seasoned group that they are so much more.

Five minutes after the appointed time draws UFO started with "Save Me" from the past, strong album "The Visitor". A good start with punchy choruses. Then comes the whole two hours of rough, heavy, classic, melodic hard rock. The musical sound is balanced mat in place immediately, and Phil Mogg's crisp, clear voice penetrates easily through.

a

In the middle of the concert, we also hear "Hell Drivers" from the last album, a guitar-dominated song with nice riffs, loops signed Vinnie Moore. It's fun when a 40-year band performs new, strong songs, and not only have to lean on old classics. Among the older songs interpreted especially "Love to Love", "To Hot to Handle" and "Only You Can Rock Me" in a well-deserved way.

a

Guitarist Vinnie Moore consistently show why he is a big name in the industry. With Yngwie Malmsteen's speed, Eddie Van Halen melodic class and verging on Gary Moore's sense, he may, of course, much room for the solo parts. Normally such soon bring out a collective yawn audience. This is no risk in case Vinnie Moore. There are simply too technically elegant and melodic emotional in order to be tired.

a

In addition, he has Paul Raymond who backs up the guitar / keyboard period. In "To Hot to Handle" offers strängbändaren in a two-minute spectacular solo party with the guitar placed behind the neck.

Extra numbers "Rock Bottom", "Doctor Doctor" - with one of rock history's most beautiful intros - and "Shoot Shoot" makes most certainly go home with a smile in upprymt snöslasknatten.

Concert Review, Photos and Poster from Valhall, Skövde 30/10-2010

In the basement of the arts center is housed in Skövde rock club Valhalla. The only thing that one can associate to the rock is the camouflage netting that hung for not all visitors must be at the bar and watch the concert, but it is also the only one. But it does not care much for the stage and the room at large is excellently suited to the concerts of this magnitude. This småruskiga October evening, the legendary English rock band UFO Club guests and a few hundred people turned up to enjoy classics like "Doctor Doctor", "Shoot Shoot" and "Lights Out". The band, who had to cancel a gig in Finland because the singer Phil Mogg lost my voice, is in a really good game mood while Mogg is clearly starting to look a bit worn out. But the good Phil is entitled to it, I think for whatever so he sings incredibly well anyway, and with a side kick which Barry Sparks on bass, so he need not worry that it becomes stationary on stage. For damn what powerhouse Sparks is! He gives everything all the time and almost flies across the stage without in any way could be seen as he plays on. But he is not alone as both drummer Andy Parker and guitarist / keyboardist Paul Raymond behaved very well and even the otherwise tough super guitarist Vinnie Moore has grown up in a striking stage personality. Together they're an incredibly tight unit, but to surprise låtmässigt still makes you almost breathless. How good are they.

There is not much more to tell about this very pleasant evening, actually. The band played for nearly two hours and not a dead seconds it was. The band was on their toes, dedicated audience and it was one of those performances that could have been at it for several hours without even reflected on how much time has passed. The lighting was understated but well-arranged and the band demonstrated that as long as you have the songs and the right attitude needed neither bombs, fire or smoke for it to be entertaining. A rock concert is hardly more exhausting than this.

Score: 8 / 10

"UFO. Do I really need to say anything? These guys have been going (in one form or another) for since 1969 and bloody hell, they've still got it. Their 21st studio album is due out next year, they've got energy, humour, and the inevitable tightness as a unit that comes from playing together for so long. Fantastic set, wonderful performance, and an insanely enthusiastic audience response. It doesn't get much better than this"

REVIEW

UFO: Holmfirth Picturedome 4 December 2010 Review.
December 5th, 2010
Andy

Went to see the mighty UFO in concert at the Holmfirth Picturedome last night. And man – do they still have it. The band were on blistering top form with a strong set featuring the usual hardy perennials and a few surprises.

First – the venue. If you've never heard of it, Holmfirth is a small town in West Yorkshire at the edge of the Pennines. It's claim to fame is being the setting for the (overly) long running BBC TV "comedy" Last Of The Summer Wine but the least said about that the better…….The Picturedome is marvellous however. An old cinema with a capacity of around 500 or so. A tight place with great views from anywhere and a nice pub almost next door for a pre-gig beer or two.

Anyhoo – the concert. Voodood Six (no offence boys, never heard of you) opened up for half an hour or so. They put plenty of effort in to it all right though didn't sound like my bag though a little research this morning shows plenty of good reviews for their stuff.

Then it was time for UFO. Phil Mogg, Paul Raymond, Andy Parker and Vinnie Moore joined by Barry Sparks on the bass. There' no shock and awe pyrotechnical dazzling stage show but that's OK because UFO do not need one. Their sheer class, professionalism, musicianship and delivery means there's plenty going on up on stage and the music does the talking.

Something of a surprising opener with Saving Me from The Visitor and the acoustic intro then it's straight in to the classics with Let It Roll getting the Picturedome rocking and it never lets up after that until the always rousing Shoot Shoot closes things off almost two hours later.

In between the reliable (but never disappointing no matter how many times you've seen UFO play) stuff is delivered with power and effortless style particularly from Mogg's still powerful vocals and Vinnie Moore's sublime shredding guitar. Andy Parker really attacks his drums and is so solid in behind. Nothing fancy but so rock solid. Paul Raymond as ever is something of the quiet man (where did you get that shirt from Paul……) but so essential. Barry Sparks – fine bass player) puts in some Way-esque moves and fits in fine (not seen him play with UFO before).

Mogg's dry humour shines through between songs and gives the crowd a giggle – "this is from one of our albums" for example and a little joke at Vinnie's expense featuring underarm deodorant. You had to be there……

What a show. Five class acts up on the stage who gel together (well, they've known each other long enough…..), can really play and look like they have so much fun doing so. You know to a large extent what you're going to hear (and see) but even so Only You Can Rock Me, Lights Out, Doctor Doctor, Lights Out, Rock Bottom et al always sound fresh.

The big surprise last night was Try Me – I've seen UFO many, many times over the years and cannot recall them ever playing Try Me before. And also Ain't No Baby from the Obsession album.

The full set list was (I hope I've remembered it correctly):

Saving Me
Let It Roll
Mother Mary
When Daylight Goes To Town
I'm A Loser
This Kids
Cherry
Hell Driver
Try Me
Only You Can Rock Me
Love To Love
Ain't No Baby
Too Hot To Handle
Lights Out
Encores:
Rock Bottom
Doctor Doctor
Shoot Shoot

An outstanding evening. You simply can't go wrong with UFO.

Catch 'em when you can.

Last Night: PHOTOS from Concorde 2 in Brighton, England

What an immense show!!

We arrived at 7.30, bumping into Phil Mogg along Brighton's seafront and walking to the venue with the man himself - The night started with Voodoo Six hitting the stage at 8pm - Great band and well received. Phil actually tipped me off to watch the band, highly recommending them as one of the best support groups.

Touching on the highlights, if possible as every song was amazing - UFO hit the stage sometime after 9pm - Saving Me - Great intro to the evening. The feedback for 'Let it Roll' always sends shivers down my spine - Cherry - Try Me being my personal highlight - see John's superb Video below - Only You Can Rock Me - Lights Out - Rock Bottom - as well as all the banter between tracks and 'Riders On The Storm' - Great stuff. Love To Love was IMMENSE and on par with 'Try Me', and perfectly executed, bubbling with emotion. Vinnie's guitar work was mind blowing, Phil's vocals were spot on as well as his humour, Paul was having a lot of fun, Barry is a great showman and Andy was, as ever BRILLIANT - Loved the drumming, so much feel.

I met up with the band afterwards and, as ever, we were made to feel very welcome - Thanks guys
